Kerry and I had a blast on the Friday and Saturday stages without a hint of rain those days. The time trial was more exciting to watch in person than watching one of these on TV. I hashed my voice from yelling. In one shot you see some 1970's dude in a flag suit ...er that is Zabriskie and another you'll see Levi is sprouting out my head.
Had I been into the whole poster thing, he would have signed one but I don't do posters. I also could have gotten a signed Tyler Hamilton mini poster as he was there at the Rock Racing booth. I'm pretty sure he was about to ask me to join their cycling team but I would've had to turn them down as I already have the Team Reel gig all lined up. Plus, I didn't feel 'edgy' enough to be in the same vicinity with all the young 'rock 'n rollish' teens grouped around.
I've been sick since this trip and, like Rob have lost 5 lbs since and without any benefits of fitness to go with the loss. Hmm, maybe the Rock Racing booth did do something to me?
Awesome!
Looks like a great trip!! So what convinced you to make the trek down there?
Needed the mental boost
Spur-of-the-moment thing, cheap airfare. Plus, I have family in LA. It got me fired up to get out riding at first but this past week has been a cough-fest for me.
On another note from the trip, the town put on a race on the same TT course (some days prior) for the area amateur studs. The 1st 2nd 3rd place winners got a cool chance to be up on the podium prior to the real awards ceremony. I'm sure they were respectively Cat 1-2 themselves but the dude that got first place on the course would have gotten pretty much last place out of the 102 riders left in the ToC on stage 5. He was a little more than 7 mins slower than Levi that day which is what the last place pros were doing that day.
