Saturday March 20th
Okay I thought we could start a new thread on this as it will be picking up steam. Saturday there is a lot of chatter about a 100 mile ride. (That is far). There are a bunch of loops out there to do this that we can do. I would propose if we are going to head out for a crazy long ride we go somewhere that is cool. Rob and I talked about heading up to Idaho City. Do an Idaho City out and back. We can leave in the morning. (now I am not leaving if I have to ride with a light).
So lets get some chatter going and see what people want to do. We have Ladd's ride which can be cool as well. What time do we need to leave and what were are we going?

Jon Gale and I rode from Hobble Creek to Idaho City a few years ago. We had a lovely ride, except for his 4 flat tires! Yes 4. I think it was an even split, 2 on the way out, 2 on the way back. His new bikes-direct bike was trying to showcase how light it was, so it had these bogus super thin tires. I tried to help him solve the problem by GIVING him 2 tires. Had he put them on, we wouldn't have had to stop 4 times! Instead, we kept stopping to fix flats, and I kept reminding him of the new tires in HIS garage!
Otherwise, I'm good with that route.
HOWEVER -- you don't think my original route is "somewhere that is cool"? Dude, coming back on South Slope has a totally epic feel. Old Freeze Out is a great climb. And I like heading up Sand Hollow. Plus, we just rode to Arrowrock. I say it's time to go West, young man!
Honestly, I'll go which ever route you do, because I have to practice hanging on your wheel. I've got to get prepared for RI.

I actually really don't care were we go. I was just tosing that out. Although Matt Hanson has never done the Emmett loop Horsehoe loop. We can do that and add it what we need to make it a century. What do you think?
Sweet Ola
One time I added the Sweet - Ola spur. Near the Maverick (or whatever store that is) near Montour, you head north. Soon you hit Sweet. Then it heads up a canyon until it finally ends at Ola. I can't remember what you get, but I think you end up with > 100.
And that store is the one to stop at, because we planned to refil in Ola. Nothin' doin'. We found a store there, but it looked like it was only open for a few hours each week.

I'm in for a ride on Saturday, but with time constraints (and endurance constraints!) I'm out for the century. Let me know the route and I'll join you for some portion. And Harris, what's your beef about riding in the dark? :)

You guys are killin' me. I would love to go but I've been told while recovering from my surgery to not lift more than 3 pounds with my right arm and I'll bet that squeezing on a brake is probably more force than 3 pounds, particularly on a 100 mile ride. And then there is general lack of mobility in the arm. I'll probably spend some time spinning at endurance training. Enjoy the ride!

I am with Steve, this sounds like lots of fun - but I am stuck at a seminar on saturday until 4:00pm. So if anyone has a messed up morning and wants to go for a ride Saturday after 4, I am going to go somewhere - at least the dump loop or something.

I'd like to leave pretty early on Saturday! Does anyone have a problem with 8 or 9 am??? I hate to kill my whole weekend sleeping and riding! So what do y'all think???

Sounds like you had fun though, more fun than a tradeshow in Vegas with a cold that is! I hope some of you still want to ride in late July and August with all the miles getting put in ;)

Since I only ride about once a month I am sure I will be good to ride in the nice summer weather. I only did 70 on Saturday.
