Snake River Handicap
Saturday September 19, 2009
Glenns Ferry, Idaho
Easy 55-minute drive from downtown Boise!
Beautiful scenic rolling 13.5 mile course. 4 laps. 54 miles.
Bike Race, BBQ & Big Fun
Sponsored by: Idaho Mountain Touring

Start time: 11AM rain or shine

Directions: From Boise: I-84 east to exit 121. Turn right, turn left on Frontage rd, Parking on right at Elmore County fairgrounds.

Handicap format? What does this mean? FUN! It is one big race for everyone.

Each group is given a head start forcing the faster groups that will start afterwards to chase from the gun. The Cat 1 & 2 riders will be the last group. The first racer to the finish line--Wins! Everyone can ride and mix in any group. The handicap times will be designed based on the relative racing speeds of the groups over the season to give each group a chance to stay away---or maybe the groups will all finish together. That’s up to the racers.

Work together in your group, breakaway, go for a big solo move, sneak away from the lead group before the finish. It’s all good. Most of all…have fun!

Planned Start Groups:
a) Women Cat 3-4 & Masters 55+ all cats,
b) Men Cat 45+B (3/4/5)
c) Men 4-5 & Men Cat 35 B+ (3/4/5)
d) Men Cat 3 & Women Cat 1-2-3, and 45+A (1/2/3)
e) Men Pro-1-2, Men 35 +A (1/2/3)

I must admit

I must admit this race sounds pretty fun. I mean I should be able to maybe catch a couple of the real slow people by the end.

Does sound fun

It sounds fun except for the drive to Glenns Ferry :) Also, info seems to be slim but as far as I can tell the Bogus to Boise Banzai is actually on Saturday for once this year, same day. Unless the wildrockies site is wrong anyway.

cool

But I wonder why they have a suggested gearing of 39x27? I don't have anything that easy. I take it there's a big hill in there somewhere?

wowzah

Whoah I missed that... suggesting 39x27 for a circuit RACE?! It must have a 15% grade in there somewhere.

Anybody?

Any takers on this race for Sat? Since the Banzai seems to be more of a bust... this might be fun if a few people showed up.

Not I

I need to get going again and start riding more than 1 a week again, been a bit too lazy since Ride Idaho. Not up for anything like that I don't think.

MTB

I like the sound of an Epic MTB ride Saturday morning.

Saturday Ride

I think I am going to plan on doing a cross ride up to the Mesa and then hit the Mesa cross practice. I think they said it was at 11:00.

Mesa

Count me in for a Mesa ride. I need more training before an epic :)
