Cinco de Mustache Party!

JamieD's picture

Come one, come all to the first annual Cinco de Moustache Party! It will be held on Tues, May 5th (obviously) during the crits at the fairgrounds. If the weather turns sour, we'll move it out to our house. We were thinking about a taco feed, where everyone brings a different fixing, but we're open to suggestions (knowing all the good cooks on our team!) We're more than happy to strap a BBQ into the back of the truck and bring that out if you have a pig in mind. If taco feed is what everyone thinks they may want after a gut wrenching crit, we'll put assignments on here and everyone can sign up for what you want to bring, besides a good looking moustashe.

Start growing your staches now. Bring your favorite hot sauce. This is not for our team exclusively (we can recruit!), if you know someone who can grow some grass on their face, send them an email. Bring the fam, it's going to be sick!

Assignments to feed 15-20 adults and 8ish kids:

Tortillas (soft or hard shell) - Joeli & Brad
taco meat (beef or chicken)- Williamsons, James McMullins
vegetarian refried beans/olives - Nate
mexi-rice - Harris McMullins
lettuce/tomatoes - Deebles
shredded cheese - Deebles
chips/salsa - Williamsons
sour crm/guac - Margo
dessert - friends of the McMullians
dessert - friends of the McMullians
anything else cool and Mexican - Dennings

We'll bring a cooler of ice water, if you want anything else, BYO drink. WE'LL EAT ~7:00 (AFTER THE MENS 4/5, BEFORE THE MENS 1/2/3) see schedule below.

Date:
05/05/2009 - 7:00pm

cinco de mustache!

Count us in! Start dishing out assignments..we're game to bring whatever.
Also, what kind of crit races are these? Low-key? Is there a fee? Do girls race with guys? Do any girls even show up? :) I need details. Maybe there are details somewhere else that I haven't seen.

Fairground Crits

If you're interested in criterium racing at all... these would be the ones to try out. They're way more low-key then most crits, BUT it's still a race... so it will be an intensive effort for sure. Honestly, the women turnout is usually pretty low, so hopefully some competitors would show up to race against in the D race and not just racing against kids :) If turnout is low-to-none for that one, they will likely combine the few women into the C-flight... which would be a lot faster pace. Also, you could always try the D race and then go for the C as well if you were feeling good still. Anyway, I think it's the perfect time to give them a whirl as they're basically "training" type races is all. Go for it!

There will be 4 separate races:
D-Flight @ 6:00 (juniors and women 3/4)
C-Flight @ 6:30 (men 4/5)
B-Flight @ 7:15 (women 1/2/3, masters men)
A-Flight @ 8:00 (men 1/2/3)

$8 to race. $5 for second race on same night. Registration is on-site.

Sounds fun.

I'll check the family schedule, but I think I can be free that night.

Moustache Party!

I think we can be there, I doubt I will be racing but maybe we can come cheer and enjoy the party.

JamieD's picture

The question is Brad...

will you have a mustache?

Brad's picture

You know it

Have a nice goatie going now in preparation for it. What should we bring and what time is it all?

What should I bring??

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be down to the crit and party....as an observer for the crit. :) What should I bring?

Taco Feed

Alrighty, since no one else has suggested anything they'd like better, we'll do tacos. As far as I can tell from the people who've responded, there will be 15- 20 people. I'll post what I think we need on my first comment at the top, just respond with what you want to bring and I'll fill your name in. Yahoo! Nothing like a good moustache party to get people pumped!

Speak now....

BTW, if you're thinking about coming, speak now so we know approximately how many to plan for.

Super late

So, I'm really late on this and I'm assuming the assignments for McMullins means the James and Charise McMullins, but we will be there (Harris, Carson, and I). I can bring some Mexi Rice and some more of whatever you need...shells, meat, or if you want me to bring a dessert. Let me know what you think!

JamieD's picture

Mexi-rice sounds awesome

Mexi-rice sounds awesome Mel. It's on the list. Cya then. Make sure Harris brings his stache.

The night we've all been waiting for!

The weather says 40% chance of rain, but that's only until 6p then it drops to 8%. Sweet! We're still planning on the party at the race...we'll be setting up a table and tent at the grassy area right by the building that looks like a airport tower, hopefully no one snags it first!

Cinco de moustache!

FUN!

What a great party and we lucked out on the rain. Perfect racing weather. Thanks to all who showed up and brought food, etc... the whole thing turned out just right. We definitely had the largest team showing at the criterium! I'll have to download some of the pictures, but if anybody else has some shots of all the awesome mustaches you should post some links so we can check them out.

Congrats to Charise and Libby for participating in their first race too!
