Time to start getting some serious training miles in for Lotoja. Here's what I had in mind for one of the next two weekends:
1) Ride up and down Bogus Basin Road.
2) From there take Hill over to Seaman's Gulch into Hidden Springs.
3) From Hiddens Springs, ride the "cobbles" on Dry Creek out to Highway 55 and on to Horseshoe Bend
4) Horseshoe Bend to Emmett
5) Emmett back home via Old Freeze Out
117 miles, four stout climbs totaling about 7,000 feet. Any takers, and if so, which day works better, 6/21 or 6/28?
WOW!
Geez... you're out of control Mark. :) That sounds like a freaking death march. I might be willing to try it though just because I lack the brains to say "when". We'll be out of town on the 28th, so 21st I guess works "better" for me. Only problem with that date is I'll have to find a babysitter first... so that's a big maybe from me.
That makes our double ride up to Bogus seem kinda wimpy, eh Nate. :)
goal?
BTW, are you shooting for a certain time or goal for LOTOJA Mark? You seem to be training pretty serious. I think I would've just shown up and got spanked.
11 hours
Shooting for 11 hours or less. Last year I did it in 11:20, with a "ride" time of 10:40. Need to get through the aid stations faster this year and climb a little faster as well. The wind was never a factor last year, so I'm prepared to not be so lucky this time around.
My brother and I are pre-riding the first 80 miles of the Lotoja course followed by a lap around Bear Lake on July 5th if anyone wants to make the trip. I'll probably also do a triple on Bogus at some point, so if you don't know when to say when, that's a fun one.
