My HP group will be there as well, so we'll have a healthy mix of gonzo riders (like Eric) and goobers (like me). Dan, Fuller, and I have both ridden with each group, it should be fun.
Meet at 6:00 at the new Polecat parking lot on Cartwright. Check out the file attached. It's a big figure-8. The parking lot is on the north side (the little loop). That will be nice because people can do as many loops as hard or easy as they want to go.
I think part of Cartwright is closed, so you'll either have to go up Pierce Park or Bogus.
Fun
I've never been up there but it looks fun. I'm about 75% sure I can make it depending on how work goes on Thurs. Don't wait for me. :)
Polecat
Cool, I will be there.
a healthy mix of bikes
last year, it seems like I saw a healthy mix of mountain bikes and cross bikes. We also saw Kristin Armstrong on a cross bike up there as well. But now that Eric straightened my derailleur hanger, I'm riding planning to ride my mountain bike.
It's a lot like the new IVCP trails, but maybe a little smoother. The section by the OMC moto trails can get a little sandy, but that's the only spot I remember.
Rob needs to come -- he's the one that I first heard of riding there.
I'll try to find out about the road closure, but I'm pretty sure it's on the Pierce Park side going into Hidden Springs, so we should be ok.
I believe the closure goes
I believe the closure goes from Pierce Park to Hidden Springs, at least that's one the signage on the hidden springs side indicates.

Cartwright
Yup, I think you're both correct:

Pierce Park or Cartwright from Bogus sound OK.
I'll be there
I just need to line up a sitter. Decided it was time to dust off my mtn bike. First mtn ride of the year for me, gentlemen. How hard is the ride on a scale of 1-5 with one being a dirt road and 5 the face of table rock? I don't want to keep people up all night.
It's an 11.
(I haven't been there yet this year, so this is all from memory, and assuming things haven't changed too much.)
No, it's probably middle of the road, about a 2-3. It is narrow, fun, new single track about the whole way. It's a lot like the new IVCP trails. I've crashed there, but that's from sliding out on a corner, not from hitting anything super hard or technical.
Good ride!
I wasn't expecting like 30 people in the HP group. That was a good time, and the trails out there are pretty nice.
new trails
Ya it was fun to explore someplace totally new... some of those sharp corners sure caught me off guard flying downhill. Whatever you do, don't follow Nate. :)
We pretty much owned that hill!
Kind of funny that the biggest HP group and the biggest Team Reel happen on the same night. The HP ride varies from 4 to 20 usually, so that was a very good turnout.
Polecat Ride
It was a lot of fun, thank you for the new trails!
