hey get a load of this, if you guys have heard of the movie Klunkers that just played here, this is kinda cool. i got to meet one of the film makers at work (one of the early pioneers of mtn. biking) and, he came in for dinner w/ GARY FISHER!!!! I didnt get to meet him but evidently we made him dinner sunday nite! pretty neat eh?
Nice
Yeah Nate and I attempted to hit the Klunkerz screening last night only to find a big SOLD OUT sign nearly an hour early. DOH! It was probably Charlie Kelly that was with Gary Fisher as they were both at the screening at the flicks. Anyway, I guess the dvd of this thing has been out for a while so I just added it to my netflix queue instead. Not going to be as cool as being down there though.
BTW Ted, there's a race cut jersey down at Meridian Cycles with your name on it.
bummer
i wish i knew bro! i got 2 tickets from my boss who got them for tomas at world cycles, but considering what a lame-o i'am , i wasnt able to go. the guy i did get to meet was Billy Savage, the director of the film, totally awesome guy! we chatted for about an hour, he loved boise and the people and the cycling scene here in the valley! he and Gary Fisher actually hung out w/ a local guy named Eric? Lafferty, do you guys know him? that name sure sounds familiar, evidently according to Billy he has an awesome collection of very rare, hand crafted early mountain bikes. man, i wish i would have met him earlier, he was really cool, and he's an old skool skater like myself so we had that in common, his office is only 2 blocks away from Tony Alva's ( the original lord of dogtown and the z-boys!) shop in venice ca. and he was all "oh yea, me and T.A. were chatting the other day blahblahblah...." it was sooooooooo cool! he told me to tell everyone to check out klunkerz.com and sign the guest book. i'll try to get by the shop to pick up the skinny guys jersey and drop off some $ too. later, T.
Live with the BYRDS
Those guys stopped by camelsbak before the show to talk to the BYRDS. Some of the kids were able to get their bikes signed before they had to head out. I thought that was pretty cool of them.
Bikes, BYRDS, and Big Fun in Boise
Hey There,
Thanks to everyone who made our stay in Boise such a blast. Me and the (old) boyz had a grand time in your fair city. Great people, riding, food...just everything. It was quite a sight seeing all the BYRDS flock around Gary, too. I posted some pics on MTBR of the BYRDS, our ride, and the screening in the Idaho forum. I'm sorry some of you couldn't get in. I wish we could have had another screening. You may get another chance, as KLUNKERZ could, possibly, roll through town again with the Banff festival at the Egyptian. If you can't wait, you can always buy a DVD at www.klunkerz.com! If any of you did see the film, feel free to sign the guest book on the www.klunkerz.com website and tell me what you think. If you REALLY liked it, feel free to post a (positive) review on IMDB.com, Amazon.com, MRQE.com, etc. For us indie guys, it's all about word-of-mouth. Any help in spreading the word is greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all the support and I hope to see you out on the trails.
Ride on,
Klunkerbill
Drink light...roll heavy.
