I think I might

I think I will do this this year. It was a lot of fun the one year I did it.

Love this Ride

This is a fun ride. Plus a good warm-up for LP 200!

ladd's picture

It's one of my favorites races of the year.

Um, "ride" I mean. It's not like last year Rob "won" or anything, although he'll point out that he did enter the parking lot first...

As defending Champion...

I should probably make an appearance for the little people:) I would hope that may faithful lead out man Ladd will be there. Maybe this year I can lead him on to the glory, fame and riches that come with such a presitges victory. Actually there is a chance I could ride it with my daughter if she wants to, if not I will be with the boys. I guess I should start riding my bike again, huh.

sign up

Has anyone signed up for this and if so whats our team name?

Chris's picture

Im in

I will be doing some filming for them also. :)

speaking of socks....

I'd love to suggest to them that they make a "shorty" version. Sometimes I think some of those socks are practically knee highs....for those of us vertically challenged. :)

I just got email back from the organizer

I need to sign up and let everyone know the team name. Their new system will then let everybody else select from a drop-down menu.

I'll sign up and then send out detailed instructions.

Hey Nacho!

You will love it! It starts at River Glen Middle School at Glenwood & Hill Rd. I'll send out more info later, but you should plan on it.

Conflict - campout

In some unrelated post :) Rob mentioned a conflict. Something about a kid's mountain bike clinic. I just noticed that I'll probably be taking Henry to the boy's campout that weekend.

Jenny and maybe one or two of my girls will probably still sign up.

On a related note - I'm planning to ride down to the campout and send my gear (which I guess includes Henry) with Jon or Dan. Anybody else want to follow a similar plan?

Signup

I just tried to signup but no luck. Couldn't even find it on Active.com. Will you post a link once you sign up Ladd? I will after you get our team going.

Ladd,

Did you ever start the team thing for this?

ladd's picture

Sorry - not yet

I'm going to miss it because of a campout, but I need to figure out with Jenny which route she's planning and which of my kids might go. I'll try to get it going tonight!

Need to sign up????

Hey Ladd...so how do we sign up for Cycle for Independence? Aren't we getting down to the wire? Who's going and what distances is everyone signing up for?? Bob and I are planning on it...just deciding on the distance at this point....probably just the 35....unless we're goaded into something else. :)

Missing out

Yeah, I'll be missing out this year. Ammon is stoked to go camping instead though.

Hopefully Rob can swing it to defend his title! :)

Out as Well

I will be helping Paul and Krista at the bike week kids deal that morning.

Jenny is signed up!

You go to www.active.com, find the ride (I saw it featured on the bottom right), and now there should be a team selection "Team Reel Theatre". Jenny signed up for the metric, but will ride whatever she feels like on the day!

I'll be riding back from a camping trip - I hope everybody has a great ride!

Free entry

I signed my older brother up to do the metric distance earlier this week. He found out his son has a soccer game and won't make it. So I have an entry that is paid for but nobody to ride it. I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem if somebody else took his place for the metric or one of the shorter distances. Let me know...

Chris's picture

Still available?

I am planning on coming. If there is an unclaimed entry, that wouldn't stink.

You got it Chris!

The registration is under "Mathew Gale". Feel free to sign in yourself. Hopefully I don't have to be there to verify the change. It was for the metric century but I'm sure you could do a shorter distance with it. I'll be doing the metric so I'll see you there if you are too.

Missed this connection, sorry.

Great race, er... ride. I finished 8th and had actually was part of the lead out train for Jeff Coffman who took 2nd. I even beat Holzer by a nose. But, it was not a race, except that it was.

Well done Chris!

It would have been fun to at least start with the lead group. Then see how long I could hang on.

I got there later than I wanted. By the time I got my race (errrr "ride") number I was scrambling to get to the start line as the last riders were leaving. Then realized my GPS was not synced yet and waited a minute or two for that. Then a cute little boy who was standing there asking me questions decided to climb on the front of my bike to see if he could ride with me. So I posed with him for a photo op before finally rolling out. There was nobody in sight when I left.

Had a good ride. Felt strong although I wasn't able to match up with any groups for drafting. I would pull up behind a paceline and catch my breath, then realize the pace was slower than I wanted and move out on my own again. So I was mostly on my own for the ride. Finished in 3:15ish.
