Alpine Loop

(What happened to Tom's PR post? I was going to add something...)

Anyway, we were down in Utah a funeral, but Jenny and I took our cross bikes (best to be prepared for anything.) I had on the hutchinson piranha, so that's a pretty good tire for the road. We headed north from Mom's and ended up at American Fork Canyon. Beautiful ride. I've heard of the 'Alpine Loop', and I want to go back. The top was closed to cars, it was perfect! Jen rode about 1/2 way, and then let me slog to the top alone. I didn't actually do the loop (wanted to make sure Jen wasn't stuck on the side of the road with a mechanical, plus I wasn't sure where it would end up), but I definately plan to head back. Probably one of the most enjoyable climbs I've been on.

Stopped by Snow

I tried that ride back in May when I was down there. But I hit snow on the road about a mile past the point where they close it to cars. That was at mile 12 of the ride. I had gone from 4600 to 7000 feet at that point. So it looks like I would have had another 1000 feet of climbing to go. I'd like to do it again.

Tom

I wondered the same thing. I clicked thru from my feed and it was missing...

The ride sounds awesome though Ladd! Did you snap any other shots?

But the whole thing was amazing. I'd love to ride it in the fall...

Maybe Tom's PR was erased due to and 'adverse analytical finding'. Maybe hard work, genetics, and attitude aren't the only reasons he's so fast...
