I am glad I went up to Bogus yesterday morning. The sky was clear and the trails were amazing. I think it will be the last time for me but if you can get up there before the snow comes it is awesome right now. I went with Paul and we just road the trails right there on Bogus. Took a nice hiking detour due to us totally missing the trail. We decided to just walk strait up until we hit a trail. We got onto Deer Point and climbed to the lower section of the Face. We decided to head around the back but soon found out it would be a little too snowy since there is never any sun.
Rob, Tim, and I went up for an early MTB ride today. It was an awesome time to ride. The weather was cool but not too cold. We all over dressed and ended up taking layers off once we got to Corals trail head. Our place was to head up Corals to Scotts, then up to 4 and over to 5 mile creek. However, Tim had never done that little loop right off of Hardguy and Corals. So we decided to head up there. When we got down to the downhill section we noticed a trail that headed up to the right and continues up the mountain. We decided to take one for the team and check it out.
Did anyone pick-up an orange youth jacket on the jungle gym @ the last Eagle Island race?
Holy crap that race was huge. The race was fun and I was lucky enough to be in the middle of the start group. The whistle went off and away we went. It was a fast and crowded field (80-90 people). I took the 1st lap with the group and moved up slowly just trying to get my bearings on this course. Once we got into the 2nd lap I started my attacks and moving up. It was hard to move up. The fast path was really skinny and the rest of the lanes were really rough and hard to gain speed. So I choose my places of moving carefully and went all out on each one.

It was a fun race. Matt, Tim & I were there representing Team Reel. I was seriously doubting if I could even hang at one point about 15mins into the race. There were a lot of strong attacks right from the gun with several BODE guys trying to break off. Matt launched and chased a few down and was really firing bullets off. He said those early moves did hurt him later in the race though. The pack finally let them go (I think 3 BODE plus another guy) and those guys were never seen again, so they took 1st thru 4th.
Started at Optimist with my HP buddies. I pulled out my arm warmers, but dropped them on the bike and forgot them. So I pick up the bike and pull the warmers into the rear derailluer. Snap the dang thing off the bike!
So I pull a Fuller and convert it into a single speed. (So what gears should you use? I went with middle chainring, middle cog in back. Probably close to 2:1)
Final verdict -- It was a fun evening, but I'm not anywhere ready for a SS!
The last two nights I've had a terrible time sleeping due to the pain in my chest. My better judgement (Jenny) convinced me to go to a doctor. Today he told me that I either had a bruised or broken rib, but the result was the same so he didn't even bother to xray.
Dropped of my mtn bike at Meridian Cyclery, everything should be dialed in and ready come Spring!
So blogs could be used for posting race or ride summaries...
